Bauxite is a sedimentary rock with a relatively high aluminium content. It serves as the world’s primary source of aluminium and gallium. Bauxite mainly consists of aluminium minerals such as gibbsite, boehmite, and diaspore, along with iron oxides like goethite and haematite. The rock appears dull in luster and can be reddish-brown, white, or tan. It forms through weathering processes and is found predominantly in tropical regions. Bauxite extraction and refining have significant environmental impacts, including soil pollution and degradation.
